San Beda College guns for the last Final Four twice-to-beat advantage when the Lady Red Spikers take on Emilio Aguinaldo College to close their elimination round campaign in the 93rd NCAA women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan Friday.
Game time is at 12:30 p.m. after the University of Perpetual Help and Letran match at 11:00 a.m.
San Beda sits at solo second spot with a 7-1 win-loss record behind defending champion Arellano University (8-1), which booked the first Final Four incentive and the no. 1 seed. A win will award the Lady Spikers the last semis bonus and the no. 2 spot against the no. 3 team in the Final Four.
The Lady Red Spikers are coming off a 25-14, 25-22, 2-25, 25-18, win over San Sebastian College last Tuesday to bounce back from their first loss of the season at the hands of the Lady Chiefs.
But EAC is out to spoil San Beda’s party and close its season on a high note.
Perpetual, on the other hand, is looking to secure at least a semis berth playoff and to remain in contention for a Final Four advantage.
The Lady Altas swept Mapua University, 25-18, 25-23, 25-12, Tuesday while the Lady Kights (3-5) were booted out by Jose Rizal University in the semis race, 25-22, 26-28, 17-25, 16-25.
In men’s play, unbeaten Perpetual (8-0) seeks to claim a Final Four advantage and to inch closer to an elims sweep against winless Letran (0-8) at 9:30 a.m. while San Beda (6-2) is out to book a semis berth in its 2:00 p.m. tussle with EAC.
