Two games in, Edgar Charcos already making waves for Perps
Edgar Charcos is making the most in playing for his new squad.

It seems that Edgar Charcos is already enjoying his stay in the NCAA.

For his debut donning the Perpetual Altas uniform, he has already made noise as the scoring guard for Coach Frankie Lim's offense. And two games in, it seems the team is trying to brand themselves as no pushovers.

Perpetual had taken two-time defending champion San Beda to the limit, and could have tied the game if it were not for the heroics of Robert Bolick on the defensive end.

In that game, Charcos led the team in scoring with 14 markers.

The Altas had scored a big win, their first of the season over revamped Letran, 78-75. And if it were not for the former UE Red Warrior's career-high 27 points, Perps may have already sunk to a 0-2 start.

Charcos could have had more if he wasn’t saddled with four fouls in the first half where he scored 21, leading him to miss the entire third period altogether.

"Charcos had a good game but he had four fouls. Masyado siya naging agresibo kanina," coach Frankie Lim said of his player's game.

In facing Letran, he faced his teammate of two years in Recto, Bonbon Batiller, and of course, the two had some friendly banter.

"Siguro challenge yun sa akin kasi alam niya rin yung laro ko, nagsama kami. Kaya ayun, hindi ko pinansin mga sinasabi niya, focused pa rin," Charcos said after the game.

"Hindi naman ako inaasar, sinasabihan lang na 'dahan-dahan' ka lang. May plano talaga si coach na tumakbo ako so ayun."

As for playing under Lim, who is returning from a seven-year coaching hiatus, the 5'8”guard beamed and praised his new mentor.

"Sobrang galing niya mag-motivate, lahat parang tinuturo isa-isa, hindi yung kani-kaniya kami. Andyan siya lagi pag may problema kami. May mga problema kami, sinasabihan niya kami."

In his first two games, Lim had already entrusted with him a major role in the offense, something Charcos could not pass up, and does his best to repay the trust given to him.

"Di ko na inisip siguro [ang responsibilidad] kasi kailangan talaga mag-step up. Tulungan lang kami. Siguro challenge sa sarili ko. Syempre new school ko to, lakasan lang ng loob. Gawin mo ang pinapagawa niya sa akin."
