San Sebastian has bounced back big-time via a convincing victory versus JRU
San Sebastian College-Recoletos is back on track in the 94th Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Alvin Capobres came up big off the bench while Allyn Bulanadi and Michael Calisaan put up their usual numbers as the Golden Stags gored hapless Jose Rizal University, 86-76, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Capobres turned in his best game in a while with 16 points on top of six rebounds, three assists, and one steal. “Maganda yung laro ni Aljon ngayon,” head coach Egay Macaraya, a little more jovial than usual in the post-game conference.
He also scored 13 points in the second quarter that keyed Baste’s breakaway.
San Sebastian would not look back from there all the way to a wire-to-wire win.
Bulanadi also added 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals while Calisaan had a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double to help the Golden Stags improve to 2-2. “Team effort din talaga kasi nagawa nila yung dapat nilang gawin,” Macaraya said.
For the Heavy Bombers, MJ Dela Virgen fronted the effort with 14 points, five assists, and five rebounds. They remain winless in three games.
