RK Ilagan's absence will be a big blow to the campaign of San Sebastian
San Sebastian College-Recoletos may have to forfeit the two wins it has in the ongoing NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
RK Ilagan, one of the Golden Stags’ top guns, is currently under investigation by the league’s management committee for playing in a commercial league.
As per NCAA rules, a player is not allowed to see action in any other league during the ongoing season without the permission of his school.
According to sources, in late June, Ilagan played in a commercial league in Quezon City without the ok of Baste.
There, the San Sebastian guard was matched up opposite Coy Galvelo, a player in the line-up of Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
Sources said, however, that the Knights have already imposed a disciplinary action on Galvelo who has not been given any second of playing time in the NCAA 94.
On the other hand, Ilagan has been averaging 13.8 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in the Golden Stags’ first five games – two ending up in wins.
If the league’s management committee decides for disciplinary action after their meeting on Tuesday, all five games he played for Baste will be forfeited.
That is nothing but bad news for the Recto-based ballers who have struggled so far in the season – even losing to erstwhile winless Emilio Aguinaldo College in their latest assignment.
For their part, San Sebastian head coach Egay Macaraya refused to comment.
