San Beda High School has been flying under the radar in the 94th Season of the NCAA Juniors Basketball Tournament.

At long last, the Red Cubs announced their presence with a big-time takedown of rival Mapua High School, 98-93, in overtime on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Lead guard Zach Estacio starred with 24 points on top of four rebounds and two assists in the longtime powerhouse’s second straight win following a 0-2 start to the season.

Still, San Beda had to work of it as the Red Robins battled back from a 25-point deficit and blasted off to a 32-point fourth quarter to overtime.

The extra period is when the cavalry came for Estacio as Justine Sanchez and Yukien Andrada joined forces with him.

In the end, Sanchez had 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists while Andrada had 15 markers and six boards.

From the basement, the Red Cubs have now risen to solo fifth in the standings.

On the other hand, flying high just two days ago, Mapua falls to solo fourth at 3-2.

Clint Escamis showed the way for them with 24 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals while Roseler Sarias and Dan Arches contributed 24 and 17 markers, respectively.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian College-Recoletos got back on track by beating Emilio Aguinaldo College, 78-71.

Rookie Milo Janao had another big game with 30 points in 12-of-20 shooting while big men John Pinero and Miguel Bonalos merged for 20 markers and 17 boards for the now 3-3 Staglets.

JR Ilustrisimo took charge for the 1-4 Brigadiers with main man Cjay Boado struggling. The former had 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists to make up for the latter who only had six markers to his name.
