It's San Beda versus Letran - there's nothing more to be said
Games on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre
12:00 PM – EAC vs Mapua
2:00 PM – JRU vs Arellano
4:00 PM – San Beda vs Letran
After two relatively down years, the fiercest rivalry in the NCAA will be on fire once more now in the 94th Season of the Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Defending champion San Beda University finally gets to test the bigger and badder lineup of archrival Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Red Lions (4-0) put their perfect record on the line while the Knights (4-1) put their four-game win run on the line at 4:00 PM. Of course, all of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.
San Beda is off to an unbeaten start in its title defense even though all of Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, and Donald Tankoua are yet to be at their best together.
That time must come in this rivalry game, however, as Letran is riding high with a winning streak built on its imposing inside advantage as well as its battle-hardened core led by Bong Quinto and JP Calvo.
In the past two years, starting when Boyet Fernandez took over the Red Lions and Jeff Napa took charge for the Knights, San Beda has beaten Letran all four times.
Meanwhile, Emilio Aguinaldo College (1-4) goes for two in a row up against Mapua University (2-4) at 12:00 PM while inconsistent Arellano University (2-3) collides with winless Jose Rizal University (0-5) at 2:00 PM.
And in Juniors action, the Arellano Braves (4-1) and the Mapua Red Robins (4-2) try for back-to-back wins against the JRU Light Bombers (2-3) at 10:00 AM and the EAC Brigadiers (1-4) at 8:00 AM, respectively. Of course, there will also be a rivalry game between the San Beda Red Cubs (2-2) and the Letran Squires (1-4).
