NCAA: Domingo comes alive as CSB cops much-needed win
JJ Domingo erupted for 22 points to shoot CSB back on track

With College of St. Benilde desperate for a win in the NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament, its most senior player delivered the goods.

The veteran guard played his best game in two years to jolt the Blazers back to life at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 84-71, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Domingo scored 22 points on top of seven rebounds and four assists to help the Taft-based team return to the win column now at 3-4. “I hope we get some momentum going because we really need it to, at least, be in the middle of the pack,” a satisfied head coach TY Tang said post-game.

The streaky shooter fired eight of his output in the final frame, just as the Generals were mounting a rally. “Finally, he got his confidence back. Hopefully, this will just be the start for him,” coach TY said.

CSB’s edge, though, was gotten courtesy of a 13-0 run that turned a two-point lead to a 41-26 advantage late in the second quarter.

Unique Naboa capped off that run with a triple and eventually ended with six points, five assists, and three rebounds. Yankie Haruna also added 11 markers.

That was more than enough to overcome the loss of Cameroonian Clement Leutcheu who was ejected due to two technical fouls. He had nine points and four rebounds before being sent out in the final frame.

For EAC, Juju Bautista and Hamadou Laminou both had double-doubles as the former finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds and the latter ended with 13 markers and 13 boards. They saw their two-game win run come to a stop and now stand at 2-5.
