NCAA: With fifth win, Perpetual looking for more
Just like their other wins, the Altas went through the hard way before finally securing another tally in the win column.

With last year's win total already behind them, the Perpetual Altas are just getting started.

The Altas, who finished Season 93 with a 4-14 slate, now have a 5-2 record to their name, and are considered one of the darkhorse contenders for the Final Four race this season.

Just like their other wins, the Altas went through the hard way before finally securing another tally in the win column.

The Mapua Cardinals had cut the Altas' late double-digit lead before Kim Aurin took over with late baskets and got the 74-68 win at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

"You can say that again," Lim said on getting another tough win.

"I thought when we were up 11, akala ko, you know, a couple of runs, medyo bibigay yung Mapua. Pero you know, Mapua is a tough team. You don't give up. And they put it down to two points. A bit of a scare. Pero, yun na. A win is a win."

Despite retaining just four players from last year's roster (AJ Coronel, Prince Eze, Rommel Mangalino, and Anton Tamayo), plus one more player with NCAA experience (Aurin), Lim's efforts for the team have been remarkable, and is getting noticed by his own players as well.

"Oo naman, lagi namang may pressure e. Sabi nga ni coach [Frankie Lim], 'Once you sign on the paper, the pressure starts'. Kailangan lang namin i-embrace yun," the former Heavy Bomber Aurin said.

"Maganda yung win kasi, binibigyan kami ng kumpiyansa ni coach Frankie. Yung sinasabi na wag mag-hesitate pag naglalaro. Namnamin namin ang laro namin."

Now riding a three-game win streak, morale is as high as ever in the locker room, and the former San Beda mentor adding that his players' composure will be key for their upcoming games against playoff contenders Arellano and St. Benilde.

"You know? It's just a matter of taking care of the ball. And executing our defense and our offense. Kaya minsan kasi, I have 11 new players. Don't forget that."
