In front of a jampacked arena, the Lyceum of the Philippines University found themselves with another first round eliminations sweep by nipping rivals San Beda University once again.

It happened in the hands of CJ Perez, no less.

With 28.9 seconds left and the Pirates leading by just one, a wide open Perez in the left wing received the ball from the cramped right side to swish a three point dagger, 70-66.

"Baka makalimutan ko. I just want everyone to know that Coach Jeff Perlas drew that last play where CJ made the three, so it was a well executed play," credited head coach Topex Robinson.

Initially zero of two from downtown, Perez took a risk and shoot his shot.

"Actually dapat wala nga sa akin dapat yun, nagkataon lang na confident itira talaga yung shot na yun kahit nag mintis na ako ng marami, kailangan andun lang talaga yung kumpyansa so ayun pumasok," added Perez who finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists.

"Andun pa rin yung trust ni Coach na kaya namin, kaya ipush pa na ibigay namin lahat ng effort namin."

Lyceum is no stranger to a 9-0 sweep record. Last season, they already pulled such a feat but they got their hearts broken in the Finals. Now that they are in a familiar territory entering the second round with a perfect slate again, Robinson is quick to hold his boys away from being sidetracked.

"It's not about the 8-0, 9-0, 26-0, it's about the people that we inspire. We always have to go back to that, the infinite game. We're not playing the competition, we're playing ourselves," Robinson reiterated.
