NCAA: Quinto is first to triple-double since Jalalon
Up against Mapua University in the seasonís first Battle of Intramuros, Bong Quinto tallied his first career triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.

Bong Quinto took Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s back-to-back sorry losses to heart.

The graduating forward was down on himself as the Knights succumbed to archrival San Beda University in overtime, 76-80, and then a week later, fell to Lyceum of the Philippines University, 82-87.

In both games, Quinto gave it his all, averaging 17 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists – just falling short of a triple-double.

Unfortunately, all of that wasn’t enough and he saw the Intramuros-based squad fall in the standings.

That is exactly why when Letran took the floor once more, the burly wing was nothing but determined to make his presence felt. “Siyempre, lahat ng pain na nakuha namin sa dalawang talo namin, dinadala namin,” he shared.

Up against Mapua University in the season’s first Battle of Intramuros, Quinto tallied his first career triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.

He’s the first player in the NCAA to achieve the feat in three years. Before him, the last triple-double in the league was recorded by Arellano University’s Jiovani Jalalon who had 31 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in October 2015.

The Knights’ floor leader is also the first player in recent memory from the Intramuros-based school to tally a triple-double.

Remaining modest, though, Quinto deflected credit to his teammates. “Nakita ko lang talaga yung strengths ng big men namin. Sobrang swerte namin na may [Larry] Muyang, [Christian] Fajarito, [Jeo] Ambohot, at [Christian] Balagasay kami,” he said.

Indeed, Muyang, Fajarito, Ambohot, and Balagasay combined for 34 points in 14-of-31 shooting.

Still, all those good looks wouldn’t have been possible if not for the person who set it all up – the person who just tallied his first career triple-double. “Sa team talaga namin, kailangan lahat, nag-eenjoy e. Kaya everybody, nakakagawak ng bola at nakaka-score,” he remarked.
