Robert Bolick welcomes fuel from the San Beda haters to add to his fire
San Beda University head coach Boyet Fernandez has declared a new holiday.
“It’s Robert Bolick’s Day. Declare August 24 as Robert Bolick’s Day,” he told reporters after the Red Lions’ 98-79 vanquishing of Arellano University on Friday.
There, Robert Bolick made history, dropping 50 points – the first 50-point game in the Final Four era of the NCAA.
Of course, coach Boyet gave credit where credit is due – yet again showing appreciation for his main man. “Again, sinasabi ko nga lagi, wherever we want to go, kung saan gusto ni Robert Bolick pumunta, doon kami,” he said.
For the King Lion, his record-setting day was for all of their supporters. “(San Beda) ang tumanggap sa akin kaya para sa kanila ito. Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila dahil binigyan nila ako ng opportunity,” he said.
As it turns out, his record-setting day was for all of their haters as well. “Gusto namin ‘to e, yung dina-doubt kami dahil galing talo. Okay sa amin yun,” he shared.
Just three days ago, Bolick and San Beda fell to Lyceum of the Philippines University – suffering their first setback of the season.
Apparently, that didn’t sit too well with the faithful of the modern day dynasty. “’Di tumatanggap ng talo ang San Beda because of the winning culture. How many years na kaming nag-dominate sa NCAA so kahit isang talo lang, ang dami nang kung ano-ano,” he said.
He then continued, “Okay sa amin yun, nakakadagdag ng inspirasyon sa team namin na mag-perform. Kami naman, we know kung anong kailangan naming gawin and hopefully, mas lalong dumami ang haters namin para lalo kaming ganahan.”
