All the love and support have kept Jerrick Balanza's spirits up
Jerrick Balanza is set to undergo operation on Friday.
This, only a day after turning 22-years-old.
The Colegio de San Juan de Letran swingman was diagnosed with a tumor in the temporal lobe of his brain last Tuesday – right before his birthday on September 6.
Balanza himself took to social media to confirm the development. “It is with a heavy heart that I share (that) I have been diagnosed with a brain tumor and will have to undergo surgery as soon as possible,” he posted on Twitter.
He then continued, “This double saddens me because I will no longer be able to continue playing for the Knights (in) Season 94.”
Nonetheless, the fourth-year player expressed gratitude at all the love and support that poured out for him since the news broke. “I am very thankful for the support of my school and the people who have showed love and care. It motivates me to keep faith and to be brave to overcome this current challenge in life,” he shared.
In the face of the gargantuan obstacle he is facing, Balanza vowed to keep fighting. As he put it, “I am filled with the Arriba spirit – raising my prayers to God, asking Him to raise my body and soul in healing. As our coaches always say: Never give up! Never give in!”
Balanza needs Php 500,000 for his brain surgery, and those who are interested in helping the father of two may donate in this account:
