San Beda now 20-0 against EAC in NCAA
San Beda remains the only team EAC is yet to defeat in the NCAA

No doubt about it, San Beda University still has the number of Emilio Aguinaldo College in the 94th Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Robert Bolick stuffed the stat sheet to show the way, but all of the Red Lions were also on-point as they overwhelmed the Generals in the second half en route to a 76-57 decision on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Bolick scored 20 points while also collecting 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals in the defending champions’ sixth win in a row and 12th overall in 13 games.

Javee Mocon chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists and six different players scored either six or five points for streaking San Beda.

More than the current win run, however, the decision let the Red Lions remain undefeated against EAC through 20 games in the first and oldest collegiate league in the country. “Natiyempuhan lang siguro na nananalo kami sa EAC. They are really improving right now,” head coach Boyet Fernandez said post-game.

The Generals joined the NCAA in 2009 and ever since then, have been unable to solve the riddle that is San Beda.

That didn’t change in this one as even though the two teams were neck-and-neck at halftime, the Red Lions roared in the third quarter and outscored their opponents, 21-9. “We are happy we got this win versus EAC because we started flat in the first half,” coach Boyet said.

They would not look back from there and moved closer to a playoff berth. “Credit to the players because we stepped up our defense in the second half,” their mentor said.

EAC was paced by Hamadou Laminou who had 15 points and 10 rebounds. JP Maguliano also added 12 markers and nine boards, but they still saw their team drop to 2-10 in the standings.
