Lyceum's Jayvee Marcelino endures a deep cut on his face and Pirates' first loss of the season.
With 8:35 left in the fourth quarter, Lyceum of the Philippines University's defensive guard Jayvee Marcelino fell on the floor with a bloody face after being inadvertently hit on the left side by the University of Perpetual Help's Rom Mangalino's elbow.
He was brought out of the court and was never able to come back since then. Marcelino just waited until the game ended and was eventually brought to St. Luke's Medical Center to have his cut stitched.
"Sana walang fracture, ang lalim eh," said head coach Topex Robinson.
Team officials and teammates rushed to Marcelino, who was grimacing in pain as his face bleed profusely near the half court.
Unfortunately, aside from Marcelino's cut, Lyceum had to endure their first loss of the season after a 12-game winning streak. This is also their first loss in the elimination round since NCAA Season 92 last year.
"[Perpetual] really played tremendous basketball, they stuck till the end. It could happen to anybody. We're not invincible. At the end of the day, life goes on for us. We're more worried about Jayvee [Marcelino] because of the cut, that's our primary concern right now," Robinson added.
