Jose Rizal High School still has the inside track for the coveted fourth and final playoff berth in the NCAA 94 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

JRU’s Johns made sure of that as they conspired to carry the Light Bombers past very game University of Perpetual Help, 69-62, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

John Amores scored 14 points, six coming in the final frame as they quelled each and every uprising the Junior Altas sent their way.

Amores also tallied five rebounds and five steals to lead his team in improving its record to 8-6.

He was backstopped by another John in John Delos Santos who collected 14 points of his own on top of eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

With the win, fourth-running JRU widened the margin between it and the other five teams pursuing it for the coveted fourth and final playoff berth.

One of those teams is Perpetual which dropped to 5-8 despite the best efforts of Emman Galman who had 25 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, in the battle between the league’s bottom teams, Emilio Aguinaldo College triumphed over Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 84-76.

Adrian Balowa topped the scoring column for the Brigadiers with 21 points while CJ Boado and JR Ilustrisimo chipped in 18 and 17 markers, respectively.

They tied the Squires for the ninth spot now at 3-10.
