San Beda is back on level ground with LPU for the top-seed in the tournament
San Beda University didn’t give College of St. Benilde any chance to pose a threat on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Robert Bolick waxed hot from the get-go and was only joined by his teammates as the Red Lions outclassed the young Blazers, 77-55, for their eighth win in a row in 15 games in the NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Getting off to a 13-2 start punctuated by Bolick’s triple, the defending champions never trailed on their way to getting back on level ground with new rival Lyceum of the Philippines University for the top-seed in the tournament.
The graduating guard wound up with 19 points on top of four assists and three rebounds.
Javee Mocon and Donald Tankoua then combined for 26 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists in the wire-to-wire win.
Along with being tied for the top-seed, San Beda has also secured at least a playoff for twice-to-beat advantage.
On the other hand, the Blazers suffered their second straight setback and fell farther away from the playoff picture now at 8-7.
Clement Leutcheu was the only double-digit scorer for them with 12 points to go along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
