There is no time to rest for University of Perpetual Help if it is to continue its playoff push in the NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

That is exactly why there was also no time to rest for Prince Eze as he put the Altas on his shoulders and carried them to an 85-77 overtime triumph over San Sebastian College-Recoletos on Thursday at the FIloil Flying V Centre.

Eze posted a 25-point, 23-rebound double-double to go along with four blocks all while playing all 45 minutes of the game that went the distance. “He raised again his MVP numbers. He is our MVP, a very important in our system,” head coach Frankie Lim said post-game.

He definitely wasn’t alone, however, as he was joined by Jielo Razon, Edgar Charcos, AJ Coronel, and Tonton Peralta in the 19-8 finishing kick that turned a three-point deficit under the last two minutes of regulation to, ultimately, an eight-point win.

Perps was down by five with 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter until Razon and Charcos scored five unanswered to tie the tally and sent the game to overtime. “It shows a lot of character from my players. It all boiled down to proper execution of our plays,” coach Frankie said.

Once there, Coronel then kicked things off with a booming triple that became a 12-2 run and, all of a sudden, an 81-71 advantage.

Not long after, Perpetual improved to 10-5 and strengthened its stranglehold on the fourth-seed.

In the end, Coronel had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists; Razon had 13 markers and nine boards; and Charcos had 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

Alvin Capobres paced the Golden Stags with 18 points while RK Ilagan and Michael Calisaan chipped in 16 markers apiece. Running out of gas in the extra period, however, they fell to 4-11.
