NCAA: Bolick tells Perez to bring his best when he returns
Robert Bolick does not want any doubt if and when San Beda sinks LPU once more for the championship

San Beda University sank Lyceum of the Philippines by 13 points in Game 1 of the Finals of the NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Pirates, however, were missing main man CJ Perez who had been averaging 18.7 points.

And so, even Red Lions mentor Boyet Fernandez had to admit that with Perez there, the game would be nothing but different. “With CJ there, if you look at it, we only beat them by 13 so idagdag mo 18 ni CJ, talo pa kami,” he said.

He then continued, “I feel sorry for LPU for what happened, but surely, they will come back (stronger) with CJ there.”

Robert Bolick, the defending champions’ top gun, could not wait for just that – and he wants there to be no asterisk if ever they do finish the job in Game 2 on Monday. “Siyempre, gusto ko yung best niya. Gusto ko, yung pinaka-best niya para makapag-compete,” he said.

He then continued, “Kung ano yung best niya, yun yung gusto kong makita on Monday.”

What Bolick means is that he wants his averages of 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists to be met by Perez’s norms of 18.7 markers, 8.2 boards, 3.9 dimes, and 3.3 steals. “’Di rin magpapatalo yun kasi last year na niya. Ayaw niyang maging last game yun kahit kami, gusto naming maging last game na yun,” he said.

Whatever happens then, San Beda’s main man just wants to be challenged by the best the Pirates could offer. “Siyempre, pag may kalaban kang magaling na player, may matututunan ka. Yun ang gusto ko lang mangyari,” he said.
