A year after winning the MVP, CJ Perez will not have any individual awards in NCAA 94
CJ Perez’s one-game suspension will impact not just Lyceum of the Philippines University’s campaign, but his individual campaign as well.
By virtue of his suspension, the Pirates’ main man is no longer qualified for both the MVP and the Mythical Team.
This, because, according to the league’s house rule, a suspension disqualifies a player from any individual awards.
Perez was hit with a one-game suspension after it was found that he filed his application for the 2018 PBA Draft, but failed to inform the league’s Management Committee (ManCom) about it.
According to the NCAA, he violated a rule which states that “an athlete may apply for draft in (the PBA) provided he must inform the ManCom in writing and is duly endorsed by his school representative to the ManCom.”
As such, the graduating swingman would have to serve a one-game suspension when LPU clashes with San Beda University in Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals on Tuesday at the MOA Arena.
His team will be missing his per game counts of 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.3 steals.
No official Statistical Points (SPs) have been released, but according to sources, Perez’s numbers put him as the runner-up to MVP Prince Eze.
