University of Perpetual Help opened its title-retention bid with a dominating win over San Beda University.
University of Perpetual Help started its title-retention bid on a high note after a quick work of San Beda University, 25-20, 25-23, 25-15, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The trio of Ridzuan Muhali, Ronniel Rosales and last year’s rookie of the year and Most Valuable Player Joebert Almodiel wreaked havoc on offense to lead the Altas to an easy win over their Final Four victim last season.
Muhali scored all of his 14 points on attacks and added 10 digs while Rosales and Almodiel registered 13 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Las Pinas-based squad, which had 43 attack points, seven kill blocks and three aces.
“Actually hindi ko in-expect na ganyan ang game nila kasi after namin sa UniGames medyo mabigat pa sila pero siguro because of heart and they want to win ganoon ang kinalabasan nila,” said multi-titled coach and national team mentor Sammy Acaylar.
It took the Altas only 70 minutes to dispose the same squad they defeated in the semifinals last year.
Patrick Palattao and Jomaru Amagan led San Beda with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
