NCAA Season 94 volleyball: Lady Pirates defuse Lady Bombers

Lyceum of the Philippines University dismantled visiting Jose Rizal University to claim its first win in the NCAA Season 94 women's volleyball competition at the LPU gym.
Lyceum of the Philippines University protected its turf as the Lady Pirates turned back the visiting Jose Rizal University, 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24, Thursday to notch their first win in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball competition.
Alexandra Rafael led the LPU’s home stand to barge in the win column after a heartbreaking five-set loss to San Sebastian College in their debut.
Rafael tallied 19 points anchored on 15 attacks, two aces and two kill blocks while Cherilyn Sindayen displayed an all-around effort with 13 markers, 13 digs and eight excellent receptions for the Lady Pirates.
Rocelyn Hongria added 11 points for LPU, which pounded 44 attacks and exploited the Lady Bombers sketchy reception with 11 aces.
JRU dropped to its second straight defeat after suffering a straight sets beating at the hands of defending champion Arellano University last Friday.
Dolly Versoza was the only Lady Bomber in double figures with 14 while Karen Montojo and Mary Grace Rivera combined for 17 markers.
