Defending two-time champion Arellano University and San Beda University look to capture their third straight win against their respective rivals Monday in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Red Spikers will take on Lyceum of the Philippines University at 12:00 noon to be followed by the Lady Chiefs’ tussle against Mapua University at 2:00 p.m. Both games will air via livestream.
San Beda and Arellano U, the protagonists in last year’s championship series, together with idle San Sebastian College share the lead with 2-0 win-loss records.
The Lady Red Spikers survived a five-set opener over University of Perpetual Help before demolishing the Lady Cardinals, 30-28, 25-17, 25-14, last week.
But San Beda is expected to face tough resistance from the Lady Pirates, who barged in the win column after defusing Jose Rizal University in four sets last Friday in their home gym.
Meanwhile, the Lady Chiefs weathered a scare from College of St. Benilde, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 18-15, 16-14, last week.
Arellano U is the heavy favorite against Mapua, which is winless in two outings tied with Emilio Aguinaldo College and JRU.
