College of St. Benilde will try to extend its winning run to four and puts a dent on San Beda University's perfect record.
Top title contenders San Beda University and College of St. Benilde cross paths in a marquee battle Monday in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Red Spikers put their unbeaten slate and hold of the lead on the line against the Lady Blazers, who are looking to extend their winning run, in their 12:00 noon clash that will air via livestream.
San Beda sports a perfect 5-0 win-loss record tied with defending two-time champion Arellano University.
Behind the career-high 26 points of Nieza Viray and the 25 markers of Cesca Racraquin, the Lady Red Spikers survived Jose Rizal University’s upset attempt, 17-25, 25-13, 25-9, 21-25, 15-11, last Thursday.
San Beda’s grit and composure under pressure, according to Racraquin will be their biggest advantage against the taller but young Lady Blazers.
“Magiging advantage namin, if ever, ay 'yung grit namin as a team. 'Yung pagiging aggressive namin and 'yung service receive namin matibay ‘yan,” she said.
CSB is coming off a weeklong break after making short work of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-11, 25-20, 25-13, for a 3-1 slate.
The Lady Blazers will pin their hopes on Klarisa Abriam, Rachel Austero, Marites Pablo and top playmaker Jewel Lai to extend their hot streak to four.
Meanwhile, Lyceum of the Philippines University (1-4) challenges winless Mapua University (0-4) at 2:00 p.m.
