College of St. Benilde secured the no. 2 spot in the semifinals.
College of St. Benilde secured the no. 2 spot in the semifinals after sweeping Mapua University, 25-16, 25-11, 25-11, Monday in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Blazers finished the elimination round with eight straight wins for an 8-1 win-loss record behind unbeaten defending two-time champion Arellano University (8-0).
CSB will take the second seed and twice-to-beat advantage in a Final Four format and a bye in the first phase of the knockout stepladder semifinals in case the Lady Chiefs completes an elims sweep.
The Lady Blazers are assured of the no. 2 spot regardless of the result of Tuesday’s Finals rematch of the Lady Chiefs and San Beda University (7-1). CSB holds a better quotient in case the Lady Red Spikers beat Arellano U for a three-way tie at 8-1.
Rachel Austero finished with 19 points including four blocks while Maritess Pablo scored 12 markers in just two sets of play for the Lady Blazers. Chelsea Umali and Jan Daguil posted nine points each for CSB.
The Lady Cardinals fell to 1-8 to close their campaign.
