Arellano U goes for an outright Finals spot
Arellano University will attempt to barge straight into the Finals in a rematch of last year's championship series against San Beda University.

Defending two-time champion Arellano University goes for the automatic Finals berth but San Beda University will try to prevent that from happening as the two powerhouse teams collide at the close of their NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball elimination round campaign Tuesday.

The much-anticipated rematch of last year’s Finals is set at 4:00 p.m. at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan and will air via livestream.

The Lady Chiefs are unbeaten in eight games and another win will punch Arellano U its third straight championship appearance. Arellano U swept the Lady Red Spikers in the Finals series last year.

“Sigurado talagang magandang game,” said Lady Chiefs coach Obet Javier of their rematch. “Talagang pinaghandaan namin ang Beda kasi alam naman natin ang Beda caliber (team) sila ngayon.”

The Lady Chiefs will pin their hopes on reliable hitters Regine Arocha and Necole Ebuen with Pincess Belo and Carla Donato providing support.

But the Lady Red Spikers wants to write a different story.

San Beda holds a 7-1 win-loss record. The Lady Red Spikers are already lock at third seed in the semifinals regardless of the result of their match against Arellano U.

College of St. Benilde secured at least a semis no. 2 seed after closing the elims with an 8-1 record and a better quotient in case of a three-way tie at the top spot.

If San Beda wins, there will be a Final Four but the Lady Red Spikers will have a twice-to-win disadvantage against the no. 2 seed. In case San Beda loses, the Lady Red Spikers will take on the no. 4 seed in the first phase of the knockout stepladder semis for the right to take on the no. 2 seed for the last Finals berth.
