Don't let his collegiate nickname 'Baby Beast' fool you, there's nothing cute and cuddly about CJ Perez's game.
The top pick of the 2018 PBA Draft made a splash in his debut for Columbian Dyip, as he dropped a team-high 26 points in their stunning 124-118 win against the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen for their first win in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The NCAA MVP and former Lyceum Pirate added five boards, an assist, and a steal in 32 minutes of action to cap off his stellar debut.
After scoring just two points in the first half, Perez turned it all the way up in the closing quarters, scoring 24 points to finish off the Beermen, who also fielded embattled star Terrence Romeo for the first time.
Fans shouldn't be all too surprised, as Perez was already balling in college for the Lyceum Pirates.
Not only did Perez steer the Dyip to a stellar opening win, he also equaled his collegiate rival and fellow rookie Robert Bolick's 26-point production in Northport's Wednesday win over Blackwater.
