Dan Arches gives head coach Randy Alcantara another trusted mind and steady hand for his first year in Mapua Srs.
Randy Alcantara will still have one of his most trusted players in his first season as head coach of Mapua University.
Coach Randy is bringing along heady guard Dan Arches to play for the Cardinals. “Nag-usap po kami ni coach and sabi ko po sa kanyang stay na ako rito,” the latter said.
Arches is a tall, but thin guard who was a key cog in the Red Robins’ championship last season.
The 6-foot-1 scorer normed 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals throughout the tournament, but did damage when it mattered most – in the playoffs where he made sure his team didn’t skip a beat even as main man Clint Escamis got injured.
As Mapua found itself in close contests, Coach Randy went to Arches who, time and again, did nothing but deliver, earning for himself the nickname “Dagger Dan” in the process.
Now, the new mentor of the Cardinals will be leaning on one of his most trusted players to be a huge help as they commence a grand rebuild in Intramuros.
In the 19-year-old Arches, coach Randy will have a heady guard who is not afraid to take and make shots and will bolster a promising backcourt that already includes Escamis, Eric Jabel, Noah Lugo, and Laurenz Victoria.
