Karl Santos (third from left) is hoping to reinforce LSGH's title contention that was established by Marvin Bienvenida (second from left).
College of St. Benilde-La Salle Green Hills will be staying in-house as it moves forward from its first and only champion coach.
The Junior Blazers will now be mentored by youngblood Karl Santos as it enters its post-Joel Cagulangan era, the school announced on Saturday.
This, two weeks after Marvin Bienvenida informed school officials that he will be ceding control of the reins as head coach.
Bienvenida guided the Junior Blazers to their first and only championship in school history back in 2017. He compiled a 48-19 record in his three years as shot-caller, but will now focus on his administrative role as athletic director.
Taking his place at the helm of the CSB-LSGH bench will be Santos, his assistant in the last three years.
The 32-year-old will have a tall task ahead of him as, aside from replacing a champion coach, he will also have to guide a side that will no longer have NCAA 94 MVP Cagulangan as well as key cogs Joshua David and Inand Fornilos.
The good news for him is that he will bring along his trusty staff composed of Anton Brodett, Andrew Estrella, and Jacob Manlapaz.
Also, Bienvenida will still be there as the team's consultant.
On the court itself, Santos will lean on returnees RC Calimag, Kobe Palencia, and Lennox Valenzuela in making sure the Greenies remain in contention.
