Versatile forward EJ Agbong and heady guard Jason Celis will now help out in JRU's lift-off
Jose Rizal University has picked up a pair of promising prospects to help it get off the ground.
EJ Agbong and Jason Celis, who played for Colegio de San Juan de Letran a year ago, are the newest Heavy Bombers who will be key cogs for head coach Louie Gonzalez and his grand rebuild.
Agbong has been a glue guy since his days for contending Adamson High School and Chiang Kai Shek College in the Jrs. The 6-foot-2 versatile forward averaged 1.1 points and 1.3 rebounds in 5.6 minutes as a reserve for Bong Quinto and Jerrick Balanza last season.
Celis, meanwhile, once helped steer the Baby Falcons and then the Blue Dragons to the top tier of the Jrs. The 5-foot-9 heady guard normed 2.1 points in 4.4 minutes as a backup for JP Calvo and Fran Yu last season.
However, the two found themselves lost in the shuffle as the Knights went with a coaching change in the offseason.
Both Agbong and Celis will undergo one-year residency and will then be eligible for JRU in NCAA Season 96.
Then, the Kalentong ballers are hoping they can complement a core that includes do-it-all Agem Miranda, energizer Ry Dela Rosa, two-way force John Amores, solid pillar Marwin Dionisio, and fiery guards JL Delos Santos and Thomas Vasquez.
