San Beda 2-0
San Sebastian 1-1
University of Perpetual Help has now downed Mapua High School and College of St. Benilde-La Salle Green Hills - the defending champion and runner-up, respectively, in the NCAA 95 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
The Jr. Altas kept up their impressive start to the season by dropping a 22-point hammer on the Jr. Blazers, Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Emman Galman showed the way with 23 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists. “Si Emman? Superman,” a beaming head coach Myk Saguiguit said post-game.
He definitely wasn’t alone, however, as Angelo Galsano also added 13 points while Shawn Orgo stuffed the stat sheet with seven markers, six assists, and five rebounds
Perps took control right from tip-off and dominated the first half by a score if 34-16.
The contest would never be close the rest of the way.
This, a week after already having sent a statement to defending champion Mapua. “This is another morale-boosting win for us. Una, tinalo namin Mapua, defending champion tas ngayon yung runner-up naman,” coach Myk said.
He then continued, “Napakalaking bagay nito kasi napatunayan na nila sa sarili nilang kaya nila.”
At 2-0, Perpetual stands on level ground with San Beda High School and Lyceum of the Philippines University, but their back-to-back wins are the most impressive thus far by virtue of having come at the expense of last season’s top two teams.
On the other hand, CSB-LSGH suffered a setback following a season-opening win.
