Kent Salado rallied Arellano University to its first win of the season.
Kent Salado played a monster game to tow Arellano University out of the cellar with an 86-77 victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Friday in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Salado exploded for 24 points coming off 9-of-14 field goal shooting and dished out 11 assists with four rebounds for the Chiefs’ first win in four starts.
“Medyo nabawasan ng konti (yung tinik sa dibdib). It's still a long way, we can still improve and I've been teling them that if we want something, we have to work hard. Di pwede mag-give up kami,” said Arellano coach Cholo Martin.
Archie Concepcion scored 14 points and grabbed nine boards while Dariel Bayla had a double-double with 11 markers and 13 rebounds for the Chiefs. Raymart Sablan added 10 points for Arellano, which nailed 11 triples.
Arellano U controlled the match early with graduating Salado, who is back in the fold after sustaining a knee injury that sidelined him late in the second round of Season 93, fueling the Chiefs’ pull away with 18 points in the first half.
Arellano U entered halftime with a 47-36 lead and held on to hand the Generals their fourth loss in five games.
JP Maguliano fired 26 points and pulled down 14 rebounds while Adrian De Guzman got 12 markers in a lost cause for EAC.
