It's San Beda against Letran - what more needs to be said?
Games on Saturday at Cuneta Astrodome
2:00 p.m. - San Beda vs Letran
4:00 p.m. - Mapua vs Arellano
Rains may have slowed down all the action in the NCAA 95 Men’s Basketball Tournament, but the league is getting a much-welcome picker-upper in the form of its most heated rivalry.
Fierce foes San Beda University and Colegio de San Juan de Letran engage in an all-out war in the middle of the Cuneta Astrosome in a special Saturday showcase of the country’s first and oldest collegiate league.
The three-peat champions get challenged by their archrivals starting at 2:00 p.m. and, of course, all of the action will be on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and livestream.
The Red Lions have had the number of the Knights in the last three years, winning all six of their matchups.
“Bandana Bros.” James Canlas and Evan Nelle want nothing more than to continue that newfound tradition while also stretching their strong start to the season to five wins in a row.
The Knights, though, are coming in on a five-game win run of their own - albeit following a tournament-opening loss. Skipper Jerrick Balanza will be at the forefront of their balanced offensive.
The game day, only the NCAA's second of the last supposed five schedules due to inclement weather, will also see a matchup between one-win Arellano University and winless Mapua University at 4:00 p.m.
In Jrs. action, there will also be a rivalry game between the San Beda Red Cubs and the Letran Squires at 12:00 p.m. while defending champion Mapua Red Robins are hoping to go streaking against the Arellano Braves at 6:00 p.m.
For the first time ever, the best and brightest young talent in the country will be on livestream.
