University of Perpetual Help no longer has any connection with the erstwhile head coach of its basketball program.
"Actually, the (executive) committee, also with top management, decided na on leave muna si Frankie Lim," athletic director Sammy Acaylar told reporters in the Altas' first game without coach Frankie, Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Acaylar then reiterated that, for now, head coach Myk Saguiguit has been promoted from the school's Jrs. team to its Srs. squad.
That means that Saguiguit and Jonas Kintanar are now the interim coaches for the Altas and Jr. Altas, respectively.
As for the status of coach Frankie, Perps' athletic director said the multi-titled mentor is no longer "attached" to the school. "Actually, hindi na kasi yun yung decision ng management kaya 'di na siya attached sa team namin," he shared.
He then continued, "Pero officially, on leave pa lang siya."
According to Acaylar, discussions about the development began after Perpetual lost by 46 points to San Beda University last Friday.
The Las Pinas-based school, however, has yet to explain how it came about in its decision to put the erstwhile head coach of its basketball program on leave. "The reason behind, 'di ko alam kasi management naman ang nagdesisyon. All we can do, me as athletic director and my colleague in the (management committee member) Frank Gusi, is to follow the instruction of management na sabihan si coach Frankie na on leave muna siya," the athletic director explained.
