CSB remains upbeat it can score one - at least one, that is - against two of the top teams in NCAA 95

College of St. Benilde has been the most pleasant surprise thus far in the NCAA 95 Men's Basketball Tournament.

Setting a school record with a 5-0 start to the season, the Blazers were showing just about everybody they were now a force to reckon with.

Once they clashed with battle-tested Lyceum of the Philippines University a week ago, however, the Taft-based team fell short and suffered its first setback.

Even so, head coach TY Tang opted to look at the silver linings from their 71-74 defeat to the Pirates. "I didn't think na we were gonna sweep the whole season. I felt na if we were gonna lose, we were gonna lose to a contending team like LPU who's been up there with two Finals in the last two seasons," he said post-game.

That is exactly why as CSB continues with a killer stretch to end the first round, its confidence remains as high as it has ever been. "Our confidence shouldn't go down. I feel we're still zoned in in terms of our next few games," coach TY said.

After LPU, their next assignments are up against three-peat champion San Beda University and then fully loaded Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Yes, in the span of 11 days, the Blazers have been matched up with the top three teams in the tournament.

For them, though, that killer stretch doesn't matter.

All that matters is getting a statement win - or even two - against the best of the best in the season thus far. "I feel because of our hunger, we will break through one day. Not today (against LPU), but probably against Beda or Letran," their young mentor said, full of confidence.

He then continued, "We'll be able to get at least one of those games."

The green and white go all-out to prove their head coach right against the Red Lions on Friday and then against the Knights on Tuesday.
