Lyceum of the Philippines University sailed to sole possession of the second spot in the NCAA 95 Men’s Basketball Tournament after outclassing University of Perpetual Help, 89-74, Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Reymar Caduyac masterfully orchestrated the Pirates all-out offensive that eventually ended as their eight win in 11 games.

Caduyac was at the controls as they went on a 11-0 tear that widened a four-point gap, 57-53, late in the third period to a 68-53 edge early in the final frame. "Reymar is the barometer of our team. Isa siya sa taga-tame sa speed namin," head coach Topex Robinson said of his so-called barometer who wound up with 11 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and two steals.

Marcelino twins Jaycee and Jayvee as well as Mike Nzeusseu flanked him, as always, and they only built on their momentum in with a 17-5 run for an 85-65 lead late in the game.

In the end, JCM had 21 points, eight rebounds, and two assists while Nzeusseu also had his own 21 markers, five boards, and two dimes.

JVM chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists as well to help LPU yet again nudge ahead from the thick of things in the standings.

On the other hand, the Altas suffered their second straight setback and seventh overall in 10 games. Tonton Peralta topped the scoring column for them in this one with 20 points while Ben Adamos and Jielo Razon chimed in 15 and 12 markers, respectively.
