Allyn Bulanadi is proving to be the man of the hour for San Sebastian.
Bulanadi buried a career-high 32 points to tow the Golden Stags to a fifth straight win at the expense of CSB, 83-67, in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament last Thursday.
Shooting 11-of-21 from the field highlighted by five triples, the 6-foot-2 forward re-set his previous career-best 31 points in San Sebastian’s 107-90 victory over Perpetual just three weeks ago.
With his offensive explosion that powered the Stags' crucial conquest against a fellow Final Four contender, Bulanadi earned the Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week award.
“Sa akin lang, nagpapasalamat ako kay coach Egay [Macaraya] at sa coaching staff dahil sa suporta nila ‘di lang sa akin kundi sa’ming lahat,” said Bulanadi.
“Kailangan ko lang gampanan ‘yung role ko. ‘Yung trust na binigay nila sa’kin, kailangan ko lang suklian para rin sa kanila at para sa Baste,” he added.
Bulanadi has taken up the scoring cudgels for the Recto-based cagers and he wants to lead them not just back to the Final Four but also to a first NCAA championship in a decade before closing his collegiate career.
“’Yung individual award, laging pangalawa lang ‘yan. ‘Yung goal talaga para sa’min is ‘yung championship,” said the current third-running candidate in the MVP race.
Bulanadi bested Noah Lugo of Mapua, Donald Tankoua of San Beda, and Reymar Caduyac of Lyceum for the weekly recognition given by print and online scribes covering the country’s oldest collegiate league.
