NCAA 95: EAC crushes Arellano U, ties last year's win output

Emilio Aguinaldo College equaled its number of wins last year after exacting revenge over first round tormentor Arellano University, 77-50, on Friday in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan CIty.
The Generals snatched their fourth win in 17 games as they built momentum heading into their last game of the season against Letran next week.
Renz Gonzales paced EAC with 13 points and had four rebounds and two assists while Adrian De Guzman got 12 markers and seven boards. Jethro Mendoza added 11 points for the Generals, who moved half a game behind their victims.
EAC broke the game wide open in the third quarter after leading by just nine at the half. The Generals dropped 27 points in the third period while limiting the Chiefs to only 13 for a 63-40 advantage heading into the payoff period.
EAC led by as much as 29 points to cruise to a surprising blowout win.
“I’m a little bit surprised kasi we started slow but then we recovered,” said EAC coach Oliver Bunyi. “It’s the first time na nakita ko yung smile on their faces the whole game because I think we won all quarters.”
Kent Salado scored 14 points while Justin Arana got 13 markers for Arellano, who fell to 4-12 slate tied with Jose Rizal University.
