NCAA 95: Pirates lock up semis No. 2 seed

Lyceum of the Philippines University primed up for its big game against unbeaten defending champion San Beda University with a 77-64 victory over Jose Rizal University Friday in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Pirates locked up the no. 2 seed in the Final Four and bounced back from a stinging defeat against San Sebastian College in their previous outing to improve to a 13-4 win-loss record.
Jaycee Marcelino led LPU in its penultimate elims match before facing off with the Red Lions on Thursday with 23 points, five rebounds and a steal.
"It's gonna be big for us to create momentum as we go to the stretch... kumbaga ito na ang home stretch ng season," siad LPU coach Topex Robinson. "Every opportunity for us to really learn and grow is gonna be big for us. Again we're excited for the Thursday game."
Mike Nzeusseu posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds with a steall and two kill blocks while Ralph Tansingco and Reymar Caduyac had 10 and nine markers, respectively, for the Pirates.
The Heavy Bombers absorbed their fifth straight defeat and slid to 4-12 card at ninth spot.
John Delos Santos led JRU with 19 points and six rebounds while Ronnie Aguilar and Agem Miranda had 16 and 10 markers, respecttively.
