Lyceum of the Philippines University is all set to welcome its first-ever promising homegrown prospect.
John Barba, the recently revealed MVP of the NCAA 95 Juniors Basketball Tournament, has committed to moving up from Jr. Pirate to full-fledged Pirate. "Opo, tutuloy pa rin po ako sa Lyceum," he said.
Just last Sunday, the 6-foot-2 swingman made history by becoming the first Jrs. MVP to hail from the Cavite-based school.
Barba was adjudged the top individual player after posting per game counts of 20.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists all while helping LPU to its first-ever trip to the Final Four and now, the Finals.
The fearless slasher was an unheralded recruit before making noise as a Jr. Pirate and moving from Mac Guadana's sidekick to capable and confident leading man in his own right.
In the Srs., Barba will be a much-welcome addition in Intramuros as it tries to come back stronger following its sorry semifinals exit this season.
