San Beda High School is one win away from getting to say mission accomplished in the NCAA 95 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

The Red Cubs put on a master class on playing in the Finals and schooled upstart Lyceum of the Philippines University all game long, Tuesday at MOA Arena, for a dominant 94-80 decision.

San Beda still has lost just once in this tournament and is now one win away from reclaiming the crown it last wore in 2015.

They got contributions from up and down their roster to do just that with Tony Ynot scoring 16 points on top of five rebounds, two assists, and two steals while Yukien Andrada and Josiah Alcantara also added 14 and 12 markers, respectively.

Justine Sanchez and Rhayyan Amsali were also forces and posted double-doubles with the former finishing with 16 points and 14 rebounds and the latter ending with 14 markers and 14 boards.

And when the Jr. Pirates last threatened at 60-67 early in the final frame, four different players joined forces in the 12-0 response that re-increased the Red Cub lead to 79-60.

In the end, the red and white did damage from all over the court, but most of all from second chance points where they dominated their opponents, 21-10, as well as offensive rebounds, 32-9.

At the other end, they pulled out all the stops to, well, stop LPU top gun Mac Guadana who only had six points in 2-of-10 shooting to go along with seven turnovers. "Parte talaga ng game plan naming ma-frustrate siya. Yun talaga gusto naming mangyari kasi pag nagkakumpyansa na si Mac, mahirap na," head coach Manu Inigo said.

With that, John Barba did even heavier lifting and had 21 points and six rebounds to his name while Gyle Montano chipped in 18 markers and three boards.

Without a doubt, they took time to get going in their first-ever Finals game in school history.

The Jr. Pirates hope to be better even as San Beda shoots for a sweep on Friday still at the same venue.
