Colegio de San Juan de Letran shocked the world as it drew first blood in the best-of-three Finals of the NCAA 95 Men's Basketball Tournament.
And along with that, the Knights dealt archrival San Beda University its first defeat in the tournament.
One person wasn't surprised at all at what happened, though.
"Kanina pa lang, ang ingay ko na sa dorm. Sinasabi nila, 'Bat ang ingay mo,'" team captain Jerrick Balanza shared. "Sabi ko, 'Pare, mananalo tayo ngayon! Mananalo tayo!'"
Yes, Balanza did not doubt that Letran would be the first team to tame the Red Lions - and in doing so, triumph over its archrival for the first time in four years.
So much so that he was apparently already in a celebratory mood in the morning of the game day. "Nainis nga sila e kasi nagre-relax daw sila tapos ako, hyped na hyped," he narrated all while pumping his chest.
For the Knights themselves, though, they have all the reasons to have full faith they could do what no other team had done this season. "Positive kami kasi buo kami. Simula nung pumasok kami ng stepladder, wala na, give up na natin yung pride natin," their graduating guard said.
He then continued, "Kahit sinong mag-best player sa atin, basta dapat mananalo tayo."
