Colegio de San Juan de Letran fell to San Beda University by three points in Game 2 of the NCAA 95 Men's Basketball Finals.
Before James Canlas converted his couple of charities in the dying moments, though, the Knights were only down by one to the Red Lions.
And the Intramuros-based squad even had a golden opportunity to take back the lead as Jerrick Balanza set up Bonbon Batiller for an inside basket.
Only Batiller botched his reverse lay-up.
Not long after, Letran fell short of a rally and failed to finish a shocking sweep of its archrival.
Of course, afterwards, the graduating guard could only lament his sorry miss. "Isang shot na lang, t*ng*n* champion na sh*t! Ako ang nagpatalo sa game," he shared.
He then continued, "Nahihiya ako sa teammates ko kasi isang lay-up ko na lang, hindi ganun ang takbo ng game, pero p*t*ng*n* nadulas talaga!"
While he took responsibility for the loss, the Knights actually didn't blame Batiller - or anybody at all, for that matter. "Wala akong narinig (na masama) sa mga teammates ko. Walang silang sinabi saking negative, puro positive lang," he shared.
He then continued, "Ganun nila ako kamahal. Ganun ko sila kamahal."
And so, Letran is only charging ahead to the winner-take-all Game 3 on Tuesday.
And there, the 25-year-old said they will be nothing but raring and ready to finish what they started. "Sabi nga ng mga coaches namin, hindi pa tapos at may time pa para bumawi sa Game 3. Positive lang," he said.
He then continued, "Bukas sa practice, ipapakita namin kung anong ipapakita namin sa Game 3. Kailangan na naming simulan dun."
