NCAA 95 Men's Basketball Finals MVP Fran Yu was an all-around force for Colegio de San Juan de Letran in its shocking series triumph over archrival San Beda University.
Putting up per game counts of 13.7 points, 6.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals, he shone brightest in a star-studded championship round.
Of course, Yu had already said he always, always wants to channel his inner Chris Ross. "Yung pagiging point guard ni Chris Ross, yung wala yung score basta manalo yung team. Siya talaga pinaka-idol ko," he said after Game 1.
Come Game 3, the 5-foot-10 playmaker finally got to be face-to-face with his idol.
As their meeting was right before the winner-take-all matchup, though, Ross said that Yu didn't exactly show emotion. "I just wanted to come and give him an outside eye. He doesn't need me," he shared.
He then continued, "He ran the team well and he was a leader. He was just playing his game."
Indeed, Yu made his presence felt everywhere with eight points, seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
With that, the 21-year-old did nothing but keep impressing the San Miguel star. "I like his game. I've only seen him a couple of times, but I really like his game," the latter said.
