NCAA 95 By the Numbers: Arriba for Second Chances

The San Beda community must be having horror flashbacks from four years ago.

Once again, a gutsy group of Knights from Letran put a break on a dominant Red Lion dynasty as the NCAA’s new kings now reside in Intramuros.

Letran is NCAA champions anew, and we break down the Knights incredible run to the title with their own championship edition of By the Numbers.

19

Total free throws for the Knights in Game 3 on 19 total attempts.

If there ever was a sign that Letran didn’t crumble under pressure, going perfect from the stripe during a do-or-die game for the title is that sign.

That unli-donuts prize must be nice.

3

Do-or-die games won by Letran to win the NCAA Season 95 title.

The last nine NCAA chamions prior to the Knights combined to win 3 do-or-die games.

The 2019 Knights are a resilient bunch that’s for sure.

222

Total points for Letran in the Finals against the Red Lions.

San Beda also scored 222 points in the Finals against the Knights. This series was that close.

27

Total points for Jerrick Balanza in Game 3.

After combining for just 19 points in boths Game 1 and 2, Balanza went off in the deciding game, leading Letran to the title.

Oh and Balanza had brain surgery last year. His Letran turnaround is complete with this championship.

13.7 points

Finals average for Fran Yu.

Yu also averaged 3.3 reboinds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals on his way to a Letran title and Finals MVP. How’s that for a glow up?

2015

The last year Letran won the NCAA title.

Four years ago, a ragtag group of Knights, led by a rookie coach, upset San Beda in Game 1 of the Finals only to give up a close Game 2 decision.

In Game 3, Letran would win an instant classic for the title.

Sound familiar?
