Letran recovered from a first set meltdown and banked on crisp-hitting Chamberlaine Cunada to crush Emilio Aguinaldo College, 22-25, 25-10, 25-18, 25-13, on Friday in the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Cunada finished with 24 points to lead all scorers with 19 coming off attacks laced with three aces and a pair of kill blocks while adding 17 digs and three excellent receptions for an all-around effort as the Lady Knights opened their campaign on a high note despite a shaky start.

“Ang nangyari kasi ng first set siyempre alam mo naman na first year at second year 'tong mga batang 'to except 'yung aking setter, siyempre medyo tensed na nakakita sila ng crowd,” said Letran coach Mike Inoferio.

Letran regrouped after yielding the opening set with Cunada leading the attack with rookies Dane Ohya and Julienne Castro providing support to take the second frame in dominating fashion. With momentum on their side, the Lady Knights controlled the next two sets to finish of the Lady Generals.

“Noong second set, at least nag-lie low na 'yung excitement nila so nakasunod na sila sa sistema namin at 'yung mga gusto naming mangyari. 'Yun, bumalik na kumpiyansa ng mga bata,” said Inoferio.

Ohya added 15 points while Castro got 11 markers for Letran.

Freshman Cathrine Almazan announced her arrival with 13 points but her effort wasn’t enough to save EAC from its 11th straight defeat since 2018.

Meanwhile, Joshua Mina led the Generals to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-17, win over the Knights.

The EAC skipper finished with 16 points while Danrich Melad got 15.

The Brigadiers chipped in a win for EAC in the juniors division with a hard-fought, 30-28, 25-18, 28-26, victory over the Squires.
