Red Cubs welcome helping hands in Silva, Brodett
Joe Silva is not about to throw out his red and white clothes anytime soon

Having had a taste of the red and white, Joe Silva will keep wearing the same shade as he makes his coaching return.

The multi-titled mentor from Ateneo de Manila High School and one-time University of the East head coach will now serve as consultant for reigning and defending NCAA Jrs. king San Beda High School starting Season 96.

"Malaking bagay sa amin yung pagsali ni Coach Joe dahil yung mga experiences and knowledge niya, mase-share niya sa amin," Red Cubs head coach Manu Inigo said.

Coming off a resounding reclamation of the throne, San Beda heads into its title defense still nothing but upbeat about its chances despite losing the core four of Rhayyan Amsali, Yukien Andrada, Justine Sanchez, and Tony Ynot.

Even better, the boys from Taytay are giving themselves a big boost by welcoming the helping hands of somebody who had guided the Blue Eaglets to two championships before overseeing the Red Warriors' rebuild.

At the same time, the red and white will be getting a shot in the arm in terms of recruitment with the entry of Anton Brodett.

Brodett's official title is assistant coach, but he will be overseeing the scouring and scouting of young talent who could comprise the Red Cubs' present and future. "Si Coach Anton, makakatulong talaga sa amin sa recruitment. Of course, it's also always nice to have another Beda brother to help us," Coach Manu said.

Prior to this post, the son of San Beda legend Dave Brodett was the shot-caller for UE High School where he discovered and developed the likes of CJ Austria who has committed to De La Salle University.

And before that, he was the man behind the discovery and the development of young talent such as Joel Cagulangan, Joshua David, and Inand Fornilos who led La Salle Greenhills to its first, and thus far only, title in 2018.
