Joshua Pacio said he needed to score a win in this match to prove that he still belongs at the top of ONE Championship's strawweight division.
He did so in impressive fashion, stopping Filipino veteran Roy 'The Dominator' Doliguez in the second round with a vicious spinning backfist knockout at ONE: Legends of the World, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Team Lakay standout opened the match with a number of clean headkicks before managing to take Doliguez down.
Doliguez was able to reverse the position and found himself on top position, but Pacio threatened with a guillotine choke before the match was halted due to an accidental eye poke from Doliguez.
When the match resumed, Pacio and Doliguez found themselves in a proverbial chess match on the mat, trading dominant positions.
Pacio managed to end the first round strong, transitioning into full mount and landing some solid elbows from the top.
In the second round, Pacio faked a low-kick before uncorking a spinning backfist that landed flush on Doliguez's chin and separating him from his senses.
The knockout came 38 seconds into the second frame.
Pacio improves to 10-2 in his professional career.
