Team Lakay up-and-comer Danny Kingad fell short in his ONE world title bid, tapping out to reigning flyweight king Adriano Moraes at ONE: Legends of the World, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Kingad kept the fight standing as long as he could, but Moraes, a decorated grappler, eventually got the Pinoy down and it was all downhill from there.
Moraes transitioned into side-mount and eventually took control of Kingad's back with less than a minute left in the bout.
Moments later, Moraes locked in a deep rear naked choke, forcing the 21-year old Baguio native to submit.
The stoppage came at the 4:45 mark of the first round.
Kingad suffers his first loss in eight matches, while Moraes improves to 17-2 in his first successful title defense.
