While mixed martial arts is violent in nature, there are instances where in sportsmanship shines through, even in the smallest of gestures.
At ONE Championship: Immortal Pursuit in Singapore, atomweight contenders Gina Iniong and Mei Yamaguchi figured in a three-round battle, with Yamaguchi coming out on top.
When it was all said and done, the two female warriors, who had tried to take each others heads off just a few hours earlier, shared a photo in a gesture of true sportsmanship.
A rough translation of the caption reads: 'With Gina Iniong, who I played against yesterday, and Team Lakay. When the competition is over, there are no more sides"
Iniong and Yamaguchi have fought twice already, and the score is tied at one win apiece. With both fighters being top contenders in ONE Championship's women's atomweight division, it's highly likely that these two warriors cross paths once again down the road.
For now however, Yamaguchi remains the top contender and will likely challenge reigning champion Angela Lee in 2018.
