Team Lakay strawweight contender April Osenio got a rude return to the cage after a year off, losing to China's Xiong Jing Nan via first round knockout, Saturday night at ONE Championship: Warriors of the World in Bangkok, Thailand.
Osenio remained patient against the bigger Chinese boxer, nullifying the bigger boxer's striking by pushing Xiong against the cage.
Xiong reversed and used a trip to get the fight to the ground, where she eventually locked in a deep guillotine choke.
Osenio escaped the choke and let Xiong back up and engaged the Chinese striker in a gunfight before getting caught with a right hook that sent her crashing to the mat.
Xiong followed to the ground but the referee stopped the fight before any additional damage could be done.
Osenio drops to 2-3 in her professional career, absorbing back-to-back losses, while Xiong improves to 10-1 and makes an impressive statement in her ONE Championship debut
